The IT Academy STEP Cambodia management team was pleased to attend the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2023 in Kyoto, Japan. The IGF is a global multistakeholder forum that brings together governments, businesses, civil society, academia, and the technical community to discuss and develop public policy on issues related to the Internet. This year's IGF was focused on a wide range of topics, including artificial intelligence (AI), regulations and policies, and gender inclusion and access to the internet worldwide. As part of the IGF program, Natalja Rodionova, the founder of Cambodia's Sisters of Code, delivered a presentation on the work of the first female coding club in the country. We are excited to announce that STEP IT Academy Cambodia Institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Puthisastra to provide new educational opportunities for students in the technology sector. This partnership will allow STEP IT Academy Cambodia Institute Associate Degree graduates to seamlessly transition to the University of Puthisastra to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology. Students will also benefit from joint lectures, seminars, conferences, and training programs offered by both institutions. Today our team from IT Academy STEP Cambodia Institute visited Chak Angre Krom High School to establish their first computer lab by donating laptops and tables. This large school serves over 5,000 students from elementary through high school grades. Providing access to technology is critical for today's youth to gain the digital skills needed for future careers and opportunities. We hope this new computer lab sparks inspiration and unlocks potential for the students at Chak Angre Krom. During our visit, we also discussed launching a Sisters of Code club to provide a supportive tech community for female students. Programs like this help strengthen diversity in STEM fields. Empowering Cambodian youth through technology education is central to IT Academy STEP’s mission. On May 6, 2023, Sisters of Code conducted a successful event at IT Academy STEP Cambodia to celebrate international Girls in ICT Day 2023. This event was attended by the students from Happy Chandara School, Passerelles numériques Cambodia, Royal University of Phnom Penh, American University of Phnom Penh, Institute Of Technology Of Cambodia, Norton University, and University of Cambodia. International Girls in ICT Day is established by ITU (The International Telecommunication Union is a specialized agency of the United Nations) and celebrated in over 150 countries around the world, to promote girls and young women's involvement in IT. We are proud to announce that the year 1 students at IT Academy STEP Cambodia institute have successfully completed their entrance exams in Mathematics, English, and Computers as required by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport in Cambodia. These exams are necessary to qualify for an Associate Degree program at the institute. Those exams are required both for studends in Computer Graphics and Design and Software Development.  The Ministry representatives supervised the exams and commended IT Academy STEP Cambodia team efforts in preparing the process for the exams, making it an organized and smooth experience for the students.
