On September 26, 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in Cambodia’s educational landscape, as representatives from the National Committee for Lifelong Learning (NCLLL) and IT Academy STEP Cambodia Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that solidified a shared commitment to advancing digital capabilities and promoting lifelong learning. This five-year collaboration highlights both parties’ dedication to empowering Cambodia’s citizens through cutting-edge digital education, a critical factor in national development.

The MoU, signed by H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, and Ms. Rodionova Natalja, Managing Partner of IT Academy STEP Cambodia aims to address the nation’s need to support education and workforce development, especially in the field of digital skills development, ensuring that lifelong learning becomes a reality for all.

IT Academy STEP Cambodia: A Trusted Partner in Digital Education

With a proven track record since 2015, IT Academy STEP Cambodia Institute has established itself as a leader in digital skills development, both locally and internationally. Through its deep expertise in fostering technological literacy and professional skills, IT Academy STEP brings invaluable knowledge and resources to the partnership. The institute's contributions are instrumental in executing the National Committee’s lifelong learning strategies, making it a pivotal player in Cambodia’s educational transformation.

Key Priorities of the MoU:

1. Raising Awareness: Both parties will organize national forums and events to emphasize the critical importance of lifelong learning, particularly in the context of an increasingly digital world.
   
2. Building Digital Infrastructure: IT Academy STEP will provide vital support to NCLLL in developing online platforms and digital tools, ensuring that learning resources are accessible to all sectors of Cambodian society.
   
3. Capacity Development: The partnership will focus on improving both institutional and individual digital capacities, positioning Cambodia to excel in the global digital economy.

4. Policy Implementation: IT Academy STEP and NCLLL will share expertise in implementing the National Policy on Lifelong Learning, providing valuable insights to support national educational reforms.

A Unified Commitment to Cambodia’s Development

The signing ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Nos Sles, Secretary of State of Ministry Education, Youth and Sport, Vice-chair of the National Committee of Lifelong Learning, who highlighted the current priorities of NCLLL and shared his vision for the future collaboration with IT Academy STEP Cambodia. This partnership exemplifies how strategic cooperation between key institutions can lead to sustainable, meaningful change.

Both parties recognize the essential role that digital literacy plays in fostering economic growth and social well-being. By introducing advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence into digital training programs, the collaboration aims to equip Cambodia’s citizens with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive global landscape.

 

Moving Forward: Implementing Action Plans

To ensure the success of the MoU, a joint task force will be established to guide the execution of key projects and initiatives. Among the first priorities is the organization of the National Forum on Lifelong Learning, set for early 2025. This forum will serve as a platform for thought leaders, educators, and policymakers to discuss the future of education in Cambodia and explore innovative solutions for the country’s challenges.

In addition, IT Academy STEP will play an integral role in developing sector-specific digital training programs, introducing participants to emerging trends and technologies, including Artificial Intelligence. The institute will also provide ongoing consultation and technical expertise to ensure that the NCLLL’s efforts to modernize Cambodia’s education system are successful and sustainable.


The partnership between the National Committee for Lifelong Learning and IT Academy STEP Cambodia Institute is more than a formal agreement; it is a testament to both organizations’ commitment to building a brighter future for Cambodia.
