In today's fast-paced world of technology, staying skilled up is crucial, whether you're an individual or a whole country. That's why the Australia Awards Short Course on Skills Forecasting for the Fourth Industrial Revolution brought together 24 people from 7 Southeast Asian countries, including Cambodia, to learn how to predict future job skills and stay ahead of the curve.

Mr.Khim Sarun, Education Department Director from IT Academy STEP Institute, was selected as the only participant from Cambodia to participate in a two-week program in Australia. Through cultural immersion and industry exposure, Mr.Sarun gained valuable insights to predict future skill demands.

The program offered valuable lessons for the participants. Visits to TVET institutions in Brisbane, Canberra, and the stunning Gold Coast provided practical insights. The program also included informative visits to key industry players like Job Skills Australia and the National Careers Institute, alongside enriching cultural experiences at Parliament House and the beautiful Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This trip gave a unique opportunity for the participants to learn from leading international practices, share ideas, and gain a deeper understanding of the local culture.

After returning home with all this information, Mr.Sarun is prepared to make a positive impact such as:

  1. Help make smart decisions: His knowledge will be used to create good policies and plans to prepare Cambodia's workers for the future.

  2. Improve education and training: He will make sure schools and training programs teach the skills people will need in the future.

  3. Work together: The connections he makes will help Southeast Asian countries and Australia share ideas and solve problems together when it comes to developing skills.

Here are some valuable resources from the course to help you navigate your journey:

Why Traditional Marketing Is No Longer Enough for Cambodian Youth

Traditional marketing is no longer enough in today’s digital Cambodia. As businesses move online and consumers spend more time on social media, Cambodian students must adapt by learning digital marketing skills.

Cambodian Youth Live Online Today’s Khmer students spend most of their time on Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Telegram. This is where trends start, opinions form, and buying decisions happen. Traditional marketing like flyers or banners, barely reaches Gen Z anymore. If a brand is not online, young people simply ignore it.   Businesses in Cambodia Have Changed Many Cambodian businesses have shifted to online selling, social media promotion, and digital ads. From small shops to large companies, they now depend on Facebook Ads, content marketing, and influencers. This means they need people with digital skills, not just traditional marketing knowledge.   Traditional Marketing Cannot Track Results One big problem with traditional marketing is that it’s hard to measure.
