Labels & Packaging Design Company: Junior Graphic Designer

Graduated from:

Prak Kanchana recently graduated from IT Academy STEP Cambodia with a major in Computer Graphics & Design. Now working as a Junior Graphic Designer at a Labels & Packaging Design Company in Phnom Penh, she is proud to be part of an industry that goes beyond what most people typically imagine when they hear “graphic design.”

“I would recommend IT Academy STEP to anyone who wants to truly understand what graphic design is about,” Kanchana shares. “Many people in Cambodia think it’s just about posters, but it’s actually much more than that. At STEP, we explored different types of design, from branding to 3D, photography, and even packaging. The variety of courses helped me see the bigger picture.”

For Kanchana, the learning environment made all the difference. Although English wasn’t her strength when she started, her teachers made sure no student felt left behind. “In classes like Blender, branding, and AutoCAD, the teachers were so supportive,” she says. “Even the office staff always encouraged us and were ready to help. That’s one of the reasons I was able to complete my 2.5 years of study successfully.”

She also fondly remembers the little things, like how the friendly security team at the motorbike parking area greeted students and offered help every day. “It made me feel comfortable and welcomed,” she adds.

Balancing work and study was sometimes challenging for Kanchana due to schedule changes each term, but it helped her become more flexible and organized, skills that continue to support her in the workplace.

She also hopes the academy can offer more career guidance and help students discover their strengths earlier. “We learn so many interesting things, and with more support in choosing a direction, students can be even more confident after graduation,” she shares.

We’re proud of Kanchana’s journey and excited to see how her career continues to unfold. Her story is a strong reminder of how IT Academy STEP Cambodia supports every student, not only with a solid curriculum but also with a caring community that helps them grow in the digital design world.
